Knee replacement in Chennai just got better with advanced technology

Patients seeking a knee replacement at our facility can now avail of a latest technology. We are offering patient specific instrumentation (custom made blocks). Patient specific instrumentation or customized knee cutting blocks reduce operating time and operative steps. The method consists of undergoing an MRI scan a month ahead of the planned date of the knee replacement procedure. The extra cost will be around a thousand dollars to the total cost.
Indian patients in order to avail this will have to come for a consultation one to one and half months before their planned surgery.
Overseas patients desirous of having this will have to present themselves in India a month before the surgery. Alternatively if the facilities exist, they could have it done in their country. We support the Nexgen high flex knee from Zimmer and the Genesis II knee from Smith & Nephew.

Autologous conditioned plasma launched in India

Autologous conditioned Plasma therapy was introduced in Chennai, Tamilnadu, India this week. The first patient was a middle aged gentleman with lateral epicondylitis of the elbow, commonly known as Tennis elbow. Dr.A.K.Venkatachalam of the Madras Joint Replacement Center launched this treatment in Chennai.
This treatment will hopefully help international cricketers to recover rapidly during the ongoing  ICC Cricket World cup and IPL matches says the surgeon.
Autologous conditioned plasma is a proprietary name for Platelet rich plasma. Platelets are blood cells normally responsible for intiating the blood clotting mechanism when there is an external breach of the small blood vessels. However they also contain several growth factors which are activated when the platelets are outside the blood. These growth factors can stimulate bone, cartilage, tendon, vascular, skin cells to grow. Damaged tissues like tendons, ligaments cartilage can be repaired by a natural process with this therapy.
The common conditions that can be treated by Autologous conditioned plasma ( ACP) are Tennis elbow, patellar tendonitis, achilles tendonitis and early case of knee osteoarthritis.
Orthopaedic sports injuries like hamstring strains, thigh strains, ankle sprains are eminently treatable.
The treatment takes only a few minutes to complete.
The procedure costs only 15,000 rupees and can be done on an outpatient basis.
Madras Joint Replacement Center offers biological treatment for bone and cartilage problems like stem cell therapy for avascular necrosis, non union of bones, cartilage lesions in young age.

Journey knee replacements offer more in Knee replacements

Watch Lateef Mohammad of Iraq narrate his account of a knee replacement in India. He received a Journey Oxinium knee. The Journey knee offers more in knee replacements.
Patients seeking a knee replacement in India are asking far more from their knee replacement. After launching this prosthesis, Dr.Venkatachalam consultant Orthopaedic surgeon of the Madras Joint Replacement center says that patients are amazed to see other previous patients do so well.
Lateef Mohammad, an Iraqi mechanical engineer is the latest to ask for this implant. Lateef was very impressed with results in Manal Hassan, a 38 year old banker, the first Iraqi patient operated a year ago. This lady who used to hobble now walks freely and can bend her knees completely and walks with a normal gait. No wonder that Lateef specifically asked for this implant from Dr.Venkatachalam.
The biomechanics of this device are different from other knee implants. Its design closely matches the normal human knee. Its bicruciate stabilizing insert confers extra stability while descending stairs and turning around a curve. "They tend to just glide and bend whereas this one rotates or pivots as it bends," he said.
Dr.Venkatachalam has implanted this in fourteen knees and the results are spectacular.
Lateef can walk without a cane in one week after his operation although his stitches are not even out.
