Case report
Mr. Durai aged 67 years the patient was suffering from osteoarthritis in both knees. He underwent a right total knee replacement about three weeks ago. He underwent partial knee resurfacing with the Orthoglide implant two days ago. You can compare the size of the incisions with the left measuring only 2 inches( 5 cm) vs the right measuring 5 inches. Range of motion on the second post operative day is 95 degrees on the left versus 110 degrees on the right.
Knee resurfacing is another surgical option for patients suffering from osteo-arthritis involving one half of the knee. The other options start with biological knee resurfacing for small cartilage defects, high tibial osteotomy, Orthoglide knee resurfacing, partial knee replacement and total knee replacement.

There is good news for patients suffering from knee arthritis. The Ortho-Glide implant is a device used for patients who have exhausted all other conventional therapies and yet are not ready for a more invasive total knee replacement (TKR). The Ortho-Glide is a metallic medial hemiarthroplasty implant used to reduce pain and discomfort, and to correct angular abnormalities in patients with osteoarthritis of the medial compartment of the knee.
